Boardwalk

Dog-Friendly Manteo, NC  On our dog-friendly trip to the Outer Banks, we spent a morning at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Dogs are allowed in the parking area and along the boardwalk and Pavilion lawn but not inside the attractions. While my folks toured the attractions, Dexter The Dog and I headed for the boardwalk!

What an adventure!  The dog-friendly boardwalk was really a fun walk. Dexter had a great time sniffing around and really wanted to wade in the water. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure if we’d run into an alligator or not. So, I kept him on the boardwalk and kept an eye out for wildlife. We strolled along the boardwalk that lines the 25-acre island, and had a relaxing morning. After our stroll on the boardwalk, we headed back to the main grounds. They were so well maintained & the flowers were amazing.  This was truly a fun & enjoyable day with Dexter.

  1. Dexter is certainly one very well traveled dog! It’s nice he gets to see so much his country has to offer, while keeping us informed about the amazing dog friendly places out there.

  2. So fun! This looks like a beautiful place to visit. Dexter seems to be very happy out by the water. 🙂 Maybe one day my kitties and I will go on an adventure, but it hasn’t happened yet.

    1. I’ve seen a good handful of kitties in a stroller or on a leash. It’s really nice to see them exploring. Ours would be too stressed. 🙁

    1. Sure thing. I think the ocean breeze is very interesting for dogs. Dexter’s nose works overtime.

  3. I love Dexter’s adventurous spirit! Some dogs might be timid outside but he always seems fearless and ready to see what his world has to offer!

Enjoy the big wide world Dexter 🙂

    1. Thank you. Dexter IS fearless. My previous dog was filled with anxiety, so I worked very hard at building Dexter’s confidence. He’s one brave boy. 🙂 Thanks for noticing.

  4. I haven’t been to the outer banks but it sounds nice. I’d always opt for a Boardwalk jaunt with the dogs over other attractions!

    1. Dexter just assumes his mom would attack an alligator for him. He may not be wrong.

  5. I’ve heard a lot about the Outer Banks, and would love to visit someday! I’m glad that Dexter enjoyed his vacation too.

  6. We love doing pet friendly vacations and to be honest, those are the only kind we take. I have not been to the Outer Banks but it looks lovely. Dexter seems like he had a blast.

    1. Me too! Last month was the first time I left Dexter with anyone (Grandma) while I went out of town for work. He did great, me, not so much.
