Dog-Friendly Manteo, NC On our dog-friendly trip to the Outer Banks, we spent a morning at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Dogs are allowed in the parking area and along the boardwalk and Pavilion lawn but not inside the attractions. While my folks toured the attractions, Dexter The Dog and I headed for the boardwalk!

Dexter is certainly one very well traveled dog! It’s nice he gets to see so much his country has to offer, while keeping us informed about the amazing dog friendly places out there.
Thanks! Dexter and I try to get around.
I wouldn’t want to run into an alligator either. When we were hiking the other day, a friend had posted that she saw a sea lion there! Luckily, we avoided any encounters.
Eeek So scary! Well, maybe not a sea lion. 😉
The Outer Banks looks like a great place to take your dog for a walk. Looks like Dexter had a blast!
The Outer Banks was one of my favorite dog-friendly vacations!
The Outer Banks looks like a great vacay spot and you can’t beat dog-friendly boardwalks.
OBX was one of our favorite dog-friendly trips. Boardwalks are fun.
Even though we don’t have dogs, we love to read about all of your adventures and learn about new places. The Outer Banks sound like a fab place to go on vacation.
Thanks, Lola. I love reading about adventures too, makes me dream.
So fun! This looks like a beautiful place to visit. Dexter seems to be very happy out by the water. 🙂 Maybe one day my kitties and I will go on an adventure, but it hasn’t happened yet.
I’ve seen a good handful of kitties in a stroller or on a leash. It’s really nice to see them exploring. Ours would be too stressed. 🙁
I would be scared of the alligators also, it sounds like the perfect place to go for a long walk and sniff of course. Thanks for sharing
Sure thing. I think the ocean breeze is very interesting for dogs. Dexter’s nose works overtime.
I love Dexter’s adventurous spirit! Some dogs might be timid outside but he always seems fearless and ready to see what his world has to offer!
Enjoy the big wide world Dexter 🙂
Thank you. Dexter IS fearless. My previous dog was filled with anxiety, so I worked very hard at building Dexter’s confidence. He’s one brave boy. 🙂 Thanks for noticing.
I have never been to the outer banks with or without Ruby. Hoping to go this spring. Glad to know it is such a dog friendly destination.
Oh, it’s a great spot. One of our favorites. Make sure to check out some of our other OBX adventures- https://raisingyourpetsnaturally.com/travel-tips/dog-friendly-north-carolina
I haven’t been to the outer banks but it sounds nice. I’d always opt for a Boardwalk jaunt with the dogs over other attractions!
Love & biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
🙂 Dexter really did enjoy the ocean breeze.
Dexter is braver and more adventurous than Kilo although he loves walking on boardwalks by water. I’d love to visit the Outer Banks.
Dexter just assumes his mom would attack an alligator for him. He may not be wrong.
I’ve heard a lot about the Outer Banks, and would love to visit someday! I’m glad that Dexter enjoyed his vacation too.
It really is a great place for a dog-friendly vacation.
This looks so fun! I want to take Izzy here, thanks for the tips!
Sure thing. OBX is amazing!
Sounds like a beautiful and lovely way to spend the day! Love the boardwalk. Glad you two got to enjoy some time together outside appreciating the scenery 🙂
Thanks. We totally love and appreciate our outdoor adventures.
Kona is ready to go!
I bet! Great trip.
We love doing pet friendly vacations and to be honest, those are the only kind we take. I have not been to the Outer Banks but it looks lovely. Dexter seems like he had a blast.
Me too! Last month was the first time I left Dexter with anyone (Grandma) while I went out of town for work. He did great, me, not so much.
What a wonderful place to visit! I’m so excited to visit the ocean this May on our way to BlogPaw’s Conference!
I can’t wait to meet you!
