Bully sticks! I have to send a big thank you to my friends at Redbarn Pet Products who sent me some Redbarn Straight Bully Sticks-12″ to try out. So let’s jump right in and talk all things bully sticks. Bully sticks are a great healthy dog chew, perfect for chewing and gnawing. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. I prefer 12″ or longer and on the thicker side; this allows for optimal chewing and assists in cleaning my canine teeth.

A bully stick starts out strong, and feels tough, but once I start chewing, it gets soft and chewy. Yum. I am ready now to put Redbarn Straight Bully Sticks-12″ to the chewing test. Oh, perfect! It was (and is, I still have some) very flavorful. My favorite way to chew a bully stick is for Mom to hold one end up as I chew. This is a good bonding moment for us. This bully stick didn’t stink either! That is pretty important in our house. Some bully sticks are so smelly that Mom throws them away. So look for odor-free or low-odor bully sticks. It also helps if you take them out of the package and let them sit out before giving to your pup.

I had a really nice chew with my Redbarn Bully Stick, probably a good 20 minutes before I was ready for a big drink of water. I maybe got an inch into it by this time. Bully sticks are pretty long lasting for me. They are fully edible, but Mom never lets me finish them. When they get small enough that the entire stick fits in my mouth, she throws them away. She says the risk of intestinal blockage is too high. All my dog chews are fully supervised and never left in my crate with me when Mom is gone. If I take a big wet chunk off (doesn’t happen often), she throws that piece away too. She can be a bit of a Mother Hen if you know what I mean.

Redbarn Straight Bully Sticks are super tasty, and a great digestible dog chew. They are made from 100% beef pizzle (boy part, sorry) slowly roasted in their own juices. No artificial preservatives. They start out hard and get soft and chewy during gnawing. High in protein and taste.

Pros: 100% free range beef, long lasting for an edible dog chew, did not leave a mess, healthy dog chew, very enjoyable, made in their own manufacturing plant, No added hormones, steroids or antibiotics
Cons: You might need to get over the look of the body part, made in Paraguay
