1st Bread-Banana & Cinnamon With A Twist!
My First Bread!
I tried baking my first bread yesterday! I went online for some inspiration, but came up with something off the books. A little of this & a little of that. Both homemade breads are very soft.
First I made a base.
- 5C Organic White Flour
- 1/4C Grapeseed Oil
- 2 TSP Sea Salt
- 4tsp Rapid Rise Yeast
- 1 TBSP Organic Sugar
I took 2 cups very warm water & added 4tsp Rapid Rise Yeast & 1 TBSP Organic Sugar to
Uh Oh, where is the fizz? |
the water. I stirred for about a minute. I was a bit worried, because the info I saw showed this mixture a bit fizzy, mine was not. Uh oh, mistake number one??? I set bowl aside for 5 minutes.
In another bowl I added the 5 cups Organic White Flour, 1/4 cup Grapeseed Oil, 2 tsp Sea Salt. Then I added that mixture and my water mixture together & blended for about 5 minutes or so. Until the dough was formed, and pulling away from the sides.
I then covered the bowl with a hand towel & let set & rise for 25 minutes while I
prepared my 2 flavors.
Flavor 1
- 3TBSP Organic Cinnamon Sugar
- 1 TBSP Organic Coconut Oil
Flavor 2
- 2 TBSP Natural Dehydrated Cranberries
- 2 TBSP Almonds (then I crushed them)
- 1/2 Organic Banana
- 2 TBSP Organic Brown Sugar
After my 25 minutes were up, I floured the counter & kneaded my dough. Maybe another 5 minutes or so until it felt nice, soft & didn’t spring back to a ball. I divided the dough in half. With the first half, I rolled out into a sort of rectangle shape & spread Flavor 1 all over it, rolled it back up & placed in a non stick pan, covered for another 20 minutes.
With my second half, I did the same process, but with Flavor 2, and placed in a greased glass pan.
I baked both in the preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes until the tops were a light golden color. I pulled out & let cool enough so I could take them out of the pans, put them on a cooling rack, cut into them while they were still warm & YUMO!
They surprised me & the rest of the family at tasting great! Very soft, not too sweet
YUMMY! |
(I love too sweet, but not the rest of the family), no need for butter or anything! Whoop whoop! Ok, now I’m excited and ready to tackle more breads & more home cooking!
