Healthy Pet Dog Pie Recipe with Butternut Squash and Pomegranate
Who doesn’t like pies? OK, to be honest, I’m personally more of a cake person. A rich, dark, gooey chocolate cake with caramel or raspberries would fit the bill. But, today is National Pie Day. I thought it would be a good day to share this Pomegranate and Butternut Squash Pie recipe from my book Dexter’s Delights: Fun and Healthy Treats for Dogs.

Sounds delicious! I imagine a lot of pets would be thrilled to have such a treat.
Dexter gobbled this healthy pie up very quickly!
That sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Sure thing!
That sounds so good, have never thought about making a pie for Layla, thanks for sharing
Sure thing. When I was creating Dexter’s Delights I took inspiration from people snacks. 🙂
Wht a tasty recipe, when our squash come up I will be tempted to try this.
Homegrown squash! Oh, yum! I hope you do.
I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend! My furkids will love me when I offer them this yummy treat. Thanks for sharing this!
Super awesome! If you do, I would love to hear about it. 🙂
Looks good. I like homemade treats over store bought.
Fresh is best!
Wow!! Now this is something we will have to try – it looks like a little pumpkin pie, but the pomegranates are super duper healthy addition! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Yes, a little red-boost.
Yum-I think Kilo the pug would love this healthy homemade treat. I make him treats quite regularly. We made dog-friendly pumpkin pie and turkey mutt loaf for Thanksgiving and Christmas and he was one very happy pup.
Awesome! We make puploafs or crock pots for food, so I’m sure Kilo loved his mutt loaf! How fun.
I am definitely a pie person! This one looks delicious – I know Ruby would love it and heck, I might try it too!
I hope you give it a shot!
I’m always torn between team cake and team pie. I do love a good chocolate cake but then there’s key lime pie. Hmm…
Yum! Key lime is tasty.
I am a self-admitted not so good cook, but this looks like something I could whip up and not burn the stove down. I am excited to meet you and Dexter at BlogPaws.
Honestly, I’m not a good cook or baker either. But, when they are made with love, it just seems easier. 🙂
Very cool! Love the fact it’s easy to whip up too. Would there be a good substitute for the egg? Would unsweetened applesauce work?
I’ve never tried. I’d love to hear how it goes!
A pie this size would last little M … hmmm… like a MONTH at least! So it’s cool that really we could eat it too.
Haha I tend to bake or cook, then freeze. 🙂
My dogs loved squash, but we’ve never given them pomegranate. I imagine they would like that too.
It’s really a nice pie and full of great vitamins and antioxidants. Pomegranate is another power food!
