Dog-Friendly Ohio: Dog-Friendly Findlay, Ohio
Dog-Friendly Riverside Park Waterfront and Waterfalls, Findlay, Ohio
Off to the races, the Dachshund races! Dexter and I were invited by one of our Doxie friends to come out to the Findlay Doxie Downs Dachshund Races in Findlay, Ohio. Since Findlay is only about an hour away, we couldn’t say no. We packed our dog day trip gear and headed to Findlay.
We arrived at Riverside Park Waterfront and Waterfalls mid-morning and were welcomed by some cute Dachshund signs. We could tell by the signs where we needed to go – just follow the wiener dogs. 😉 The Dachshund races were held inside one of the many shelter houses around the park. The dog costume party was happening as we arrived. There were Dachshunds to our right and to our left, and they were so cute!
We didn’t stay long at the races; we decided to check out the beautiful park. Riverside Park in Findlay, Ohio didn’t disappoint. The park grounds were well-maintained, with a variety of trails to choose from. We walked along the waterfront, since Dexter is always up to getting his toes wet. Dexter enjoyed the scenic views of the waterfalls, the dam, and the overlook deck. He also enjoyed watching the ducks and sniffing anything that caught his attention.
Riverside Park Waterfront and Waterfalls also offers canoe and kayak rentals. This was very tempting, but I did not have Dexter’s dog life jacket, so it was a no-go on this outing. We continued to walk the park until we were ready to call it a day and find a local dog-friendly restaurant.

Sounds amazing for all dog lovers!
It was a great day!
It must be so nice to be able to take your dog out and about with you. Looks like a fun day trip x
My favorite thing is adventuring with Dexter. He’s always so much fun.
Ahhh.. Dexter is so cute.. Sad you don’t have your dog’s life jacket. Id love to see Dexter on it. He’s very photogenic. Love to see more of Dexter’s photo. =)
🙂 Thank you. I think I need to just keep it in the car.
Awe, we used to have a mini Dachshund, she was a great dog. I would have loved to see the costume show. That’s great that there are dog friendly parks for dog parents to take their pooches too.
How adorable. I love little Dachshunds. So cute.
Aww what a sweet dog! Glad you get to explore with Dexter
