Dog-Friendly Restaurants in The Chicago Area
Dog-Friendly Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe Review
All I can say, is I’m so happy that I saw the road sign for Blueberry Hill Breakfast Cafe when I was checking into my pet-friendly hotel! When Dexter and I travel, we always look for tasty and accommodating dog-friendly restaurants and outdoor patios. However, this was a bit of an oddity for us.
Let me explain.
On our weekend Chicago trip, my travel companion and I were going to grab an early morning breakfast and leave the pups in the car while we ate. No worries, it was cool, the car was parked in front, and they were also crated and covered. Really, the dogs were totally safe and happy.
We saw the sign for Blueberry Hill Cafe and thought it sounded like a great breakfast spot. We were greeted with such warmth and hospitality, which is always appreciated. When I was reading their menu, it was really hard for me to choose, because they had so many great offerings. Specialty pancakes, crepes, omelets, skillets, sandwiches, and salads to name just a few. They even offer organic coffee and freshly-squeezed juice and smoothies!
Baked blueberry French toast it was! This was not your ordinary French toast. This bread was made with loads of Michigan blueberries baked right into the bread batter. Think of blueberry bread, then grilled to perfection and topped with more fresh blueberry compote and a fresh cream cheese dipping sauce. Seriously. This was an amazing delight. I’m just sorry I wasn’t prepared to write this review and only had my phone to take a quick photo before I dove in.
As we were wrapping up our breakfast, the waitress brought us coffees to go. How amazing is that? We saw they had an outside cafe, so I inquired if the patio was dog-friendly, and it was. So, day two, here we come.
The next morning, we were super excited to eat once again at Blueberry Hill Cafe, this time with our pups. Once again, the staff was a real delight to be around. They helped us find a great seat for the dogs, brought them ice water and lime. What a treat! I originally ordered a side of bacon for us all to share, then decided fruit might be a better choice. Well, our wonderful server brought the pups both fruit and bacon!
This time I went for the Chunky Monkey Waffle. Yes, you read that correctly, and yes, I’m always in the mood for sweets. But, if you have more of a savory palate, my travel buddy had a few different omelets and loved them! Now, back to the Chunky Monkey. Pecans are baked right into the waffle batter and topped with bananas, chocolate syrup, more pecans and a homemade whipped cream. And yes, it was as good as it sounds!
Blueberry Hill Cafe’s friendly, family atmosphere was combined with great prices and exceptional food! Blueberry Hill has been servicing the Chicagoland area for over fifteen years with locations in Aurora, Darien, Homewood, Homer Glen, LaGrange and Oakbrook. Their website says, “At Blueberry Hill, we agree that Mom was right when she made sure you left the house with a good breakfast in the morning.” And I can vouch for this slogan. If you are in the Chicagoland area looking for a dog-friendly restaurant or just something for the family, you won’t want to miss this gem.

I absolutely looove blueberries and that french toast looks amazing. It’s great that they’re dog-friendly, too. We take our pooch out a lot. 🙂
I love hearing that. It’s so nice to bring the entire family on adventures. Yes, sooooo good!
Oh how fun is that?! I don’t think I’ve ever thought about bringing my dog along. We no longer have one but it would have been fun!
I only travel with my pooch. A little planning, but we find the best spots!

You bet. The food was the best. I would imagine locals eat there every week.
Chicago is a very dog-friendly city. There are so many places that let you bring our dog. It’s nice to have that option so you don’t have to leave your furry friend at home.
Agree. We love traveling to Chicago with the pups.
