Dexter the Dog and his friend Levi the Dog were going to stay in style in downtown Chicago. We booked our dog-friendly weekend in Chicago at Trump Chicago. Long past are the days where traveling with a dog meant staying in roach hotels. Pet-friendly hotels have come a long way in realizing that those of us who take dog-friendly vacations are also looking for a dog-friendly quality hotel.

While planning my Chicago road trip with Dexter the Dog and his friend Levi, I soon realized I wanted to find a dog-friendly hotel close to the Chicago River and Riverwalk. It wasn’t long before Trump Chicago topped my list.
Trump Chicago isn’t just close to the Chicago River, it’s on the Chicago River. This elegant luxury hotel is situated along the Chicago River with walking access to The Magnificent Mile, Riverwalk, Navy Pier, and scores of other dog-friendly things to do in Chicago. This would allow us to hop back and forth from a dog-friendly Chicago attraction to our luxurious hotel room for a little rest.
If you enjoy architecture, and you should if you are visiting Chicago, then Trump Chicago has you covered. This majestic hotel soars 92 stories and offers a stunning view of the city. The hotel is one of the tallest reinforced concrete buildings in the world. The glass and shiny steel exterior mirrors the neighboring buildings, creating a visually intriguing building.
The deluxe queen city view room was just what the doctor ordered. This impressive hotel room was 600 square-feet of pure luxury with a 10-foot floor-to-ceiling window offering a spectacular view of the city skyline. In the morning, the crimson colors of the sunrise were stunning as the sun peeked over the Chicago River. The evening was just as breathtaking, with all the surrounding skyscrapers lit up in their full glory.
The deluxe hotel room featured a fully equipped kitchen, which is important to me since I feed Dexter fresh food. I was able to keep his food in the refrigerator and even cooked him up some hard boiled eggs during our stay. The limestone bath was gorgeous and offered plenty of room for all of our toiletries. The real trip was that the bathroom mirror also had a TV.
In addition to the deluxe hotel rooms, Trump Chicago offers quite a few amenities such as full access to the health club, spa, personal attaché services, stocked mini bar, indoor valet parking, babysitting services, 24-hour doormen, full-service business center, meeting rooms, and on-site security. This 5-star Chicago hotel also offers an on-site lounge, Rebar, for those looking for appetizing food and drinks. If you prefer stunning views of the city, check out the sophisticated cuisine on their rooftop oasis, Terrace 16.
But, I was more interested in their Trump Pets Program. 🙂 When I’m planning Dexter’s dog-friendly vacations, it’s always about him and his needs, wants, and desires. It’s extra special when I can find a pet-friendly hotel that not only allows dogs, but welcomes them with open arms.
The Trump Pets program does just that. From the moment we pulled up to Trump Chicago, both Dexter and Levi were welcomed by the staff. Each trip to and from our room, they were greeted and even received tasty treats. Trump Pets offers special amenities like a plush dog mat, dog bowls, feeding placement, a toy, pick-up bags, and of course, treats. The pups were truly embraced. Choosing to stay at Trump Chicago made for the perfect dog-friendly road trip.
