Happy Birthday, Dexter the Dog
Wow. Just wow. I am so happy to be celebrating Dexter the Dog’s 10th birthday! He’s been the light in my life since 2009, and I try never to take our time together for granted. As you probably already know, Dexter was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia in 2012, just before his third birthday. That diagnosis shook me to the core. You can read more about his disease in this article.
However, with a lot of help from Dexter’s amazing veterinarian team, research, and trial and error, he now leads a pretty full and active life. Dexter and I have made it our mission to live each day to the fullest and to connect with each other every day.
I thought it would be a fun idea to make a homemade dog cake to celebrate Dexter’s life. I will call this dog birthday cake, a Celebrating Cake. 🙂 Like all my homemade dog and cat recipes, each ingredient I use will serve a purpose and provide health benefits—no subpar ingredients for Dexter!
Bone Broth for Dogs
The inspiration behind this all natural dog birthday cake recipe is Primalvore Holistic Pet Nutrition’s beef bone broth for dogs. Bone broth for dogs offers a lot of health benefits. Dog bone broth nutrition includes being packed with glucosamine, amino acids, vitamins, chondroitin, and minerals. Dog bone broth can boost a dog’s immune system, aids in healthy joints, soothes the gut, and even can help with neurological disorders. All these are perfect for my senior cavalier with Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia.
Primalvore Holistic Pet Nutrition’s beef bone broth uses organic beef bones, collagen peptides, and organic turmeric. Bone broth with turmeric for dogs helps fight inflammation and boosts antioxidants. Primalvore’s natural collagen peptides include a particular group of peptides in the amino acid chain that show the greatest function in the improvement and maintenance of joint health. Dexter is just happy that it tastes great!
Making Dexter’s Celebration Cake was a lot of fun. I am so thrilled the cake turned out bright and festive. The combination of organic chia seeds with Primalvore’s bone broth bound well with the organic coconut flour and made it nice and moist. I hope your dog enjoys this beef bone broth dog birthday cake recipe as much as Dexter did!

Hi Tonya,
I am interested in buying the bone broth for my 4 yr old golden retriever.
Is he too young to start giving him that or should I wait till he’s a little bit older?
