Pet enrichment is so important for a pet's well-being. Dogs and cats are very smart and engaged animals that need activity and mental stimulation in order to thrive. I'm a huge fan of feeding a dog out of a food toy, particularity if that dog is a puppy, adolescent, or active dog breed. These dogs need as much enrichment as possible just to keep them out of trouble. ;)

As a pet lover and primate, my soul craves to hug and cuddle my pets. I would just love to grab my dog, Dexter and give him a big squeeze. Being high allows a cat to view his world from a relatively safe location. Maybe the reason cats want to be high up is from their ancestral days, when they climbed trees to escape other predators or to hunt their prey from concealment. A clicker is a little plastic box that makes a unique clicking sound. When using clicker training with a dog or cat, you will first teach your pet that the click equals a reward. This, in turn, will teach your pet that he has done something right and earned a reward. It goes something like this. You greet your dog and he is jumping around like a goofball. You say nothing and do nothing. He then puts his butt on the ground, and you immediately click then give him a treat. Your dog learns butt on the ground = click and treat, and jumping up = nothing. Over more dog training sessions, he will learn butt on the ground is the right answer, and jumping up is the wrong answer. He will start to offer SIT behavior more often to earn the click/reward.
