Easy Dog Cake Recipe
Happy 11th birthday, Dexter the Dog! My Little Man. Silly Monkey. Stink Pot. Goof Ball. These are just a few of the names I call Dexter. My inspiration, would certainly be another true term of how I feel about him.
Dexter stole my heart when I first met him in 2009. At five weeks of age, he was bopping around with his siblings, aunties, and his Cavalier mom. He was as cute as a button. The same size as his brothers and sisters, and he stuck to my side during the two hours I was meeting all the puppies. Yup, he most definitely chose me to call his human mom. It was going to be a long seven weeks before I could bring this little bundle home.

Seven weeks later, what a shocker! He was double the size of his brothers and sisters! Now, he’s almost a whopping 30 pounds. Not fat, just tall and long. More to love, that’s for sure.
We’ve had a wonderful life together. Even though, he has Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia, his soul is strong, and he loves to live life to the fullest. I’m not unrealistic and hoping he’ll be by my side for one hundred more years, just twenty more. That’s not too much to ask.
Today, I am celebrating his zest for life by honoring him with a healthy dog birthday cake! Just like all the healthy dog treat and dog cake recipes I create for him, each ingredient is healthy and beneficial. You won’t find any junky ingredients inside Dexter’s homemade dog birthday cake.
I will be honest, I did have a bit off a goof. I tried to place slices of organic apples on the bottom of the cake pan and mini muffin pan, then the batter. That didn’t work out so well. So, I’m tweaking the instructions to add the diced apples to the batter. 🙂
I hope your birthday dog enjoys this pumpkin-and-apple dog birthday cake recipe as much as Dexter did!
