Natural Dog Treat Recipes: Frozen Smoothie For Dogs
Mom is always trying to find me healthy food and dog treats to eat. We also like to take our adventures to the local ice cream shops. She’s been feeling guilty for allowing me to eat the dairy and non-organic ice cream when we’re there. So, she came up with this little snack! Grandma’s morning smoothies were her inspiration. ~ Dexter
Dog Smoothie Frozen Dog Treat Recipe
- Organic Strawberries
- Organic Blueberries
- Organic Broccoli
- Organic Celery
- Organic Pineapple
- Organic Honey
- Organic Coconut Oil
- Organic Pineapple Juice
All you need to do is clean the fruit and veggies, place them in a blender, and blend away! Then Mom filled my Rita Dog Toy (now we use West Paw Tux) with the organic smoothie mixture, placed the toy in a small glass to hold it upright, and froze it.
With the extra smoothie, she filled ice cube trays and froze those, too. Once frozen, she popped the cubes out and placed them in a glass container for the future. She can then thaw 2 cubes and refill the Rita Dog Toy and freeze again. Voila! A healthy frozen dog treat to replace the not-so-healthy ice cream.

This looks like a healthy refreshing treat for humans too!! My dog LOVES watermelon and strawberries. Not a huge fan of veggies though! 😉
Pet and people friendly treat! I’m not a veggie gal, but with the fruit, you don’t really notice.
So cool! I’ll have to share this with my in laws and some friends that have dogs. It’s great to make them healthy homemade food and treats. I’m sure they love it!
Thanks. I also think that when my pets see me mixing and then handing over to them, they know I made it special. <3
This is a smoothie I would drink myself. I didn’t even know dogs eat smoothies.
🙂 As long as they are dog-friendly ingredients, yes. I freeze this for a long snack. 🙂
When we had a dog I used to make him homemade treats all the time. Homemade is always better if you ask me.
Making a bunch of these and stocking them in the freezer would be such a good idea. I really like this recipe!
Thank you. I do always have some kind of frozen snack ready to go. You never know when you’re going to need it.
Oooooo this is just wonderful for all the furbabies l!!!!! I never thought of making a smoothie for a dog!
Thanks. A healthy frozen snack vs ice cream. 😉
Oh boy, my Mr. Cooper would love this! Great treat for those hot summer days that are coming up too!
Cooper. Love that name. Perfect for a summer snack.

Yes. Yummy snack that we can both share.
I’m sure my Roxy would love these! She absolutely loves fruits and veggies, especially carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, and oranges!
Those are great foods! I love making smoothies for Dexter and freezing. Yum
hahah I didn’t even know that dogs like smoothies. I’ll recommend this to my friend to make it for his dog as I don’t have a dog of my own at the moment. Thanks.
🙂 Thanks for sharing. And this treat can be shared!
